Power BI allows you to rename a datasets in Power BI service. You can rename the dataset in workspace, if you are either a report author or creator of workspace.
First login to Power BI service (https://app.powerbi.com) account.
In Power BI home page, to see the list of available workspace, click on workspaces.
It will navigate you the list of all workspaces including your personal workspace that is My Workspace.
As you can see in below image, there are multiple workspace that is All Company and PBI Reports and one personal workspace My Workspace.
Renaming the Datasetsย
Before renaming the dataset, lets see the content of workspace such as Dashboards, Reports, and datasets.
In navigation pane, you can select workspace that content you want to see.
Lets see the content of workspace PBI Reports.
After clicking on workspace PBI reports, you can see all the dashboard, reports, and datasets that it contains.
Now to renaming a dataset, click on datasets + dataflows tab as shown below.
Once you click on Datasets + dataflows tab, you can see the list of available datasets in workspace PBI Reports.
Now, hover over the item to rename, select More options (…).
, And choose Rename.
Once you click on Rename, you will see a setting page opens as shown below.
Here you can rename the dataset.
Lets rename the dataset as Ds_SalesReport_Finance, then click on Save button.
Once you click on Save button, you will see that dataset name has been changed.
